August 2019 my daughter and her horse, Shooter, were in a horrible freak accident that very easily could have been fatal for both of them. Long story short they were running and ended up flipping over a hidden piece of machinery. Shooter suffered two fractures to the radius just above the knee, while also severing all muscle, tendons, and ligaments to the bone. In a situation like this you have two options...invest ALOT of time and money or put them down. He was a 6-yr old 2D/3D barrel horse with a lot more to give as he was just starting his barrel racing career, showing a ton of potential, so we decided to give him a chance.

When we got him to the house, we had a vet waiting for us who helped sedate him and give emergency care enough to get him to the veterinary hospital. I immediately patched him with Aeon on the forehead hoping to help with shock. I also patched him with AcuLife and Carnosine to help with pain and strength. At this point he had barely any control of his right front leg movement due to everything being severed, so we had to help him load onto the trailer.

Once we got to the hospital, we got X-rays they did surgery to clean it up, and he stayed there for 2 weeks until he got to come home. Shooter got patched with Aeon, AcuLife, Carnosine, and X39 every 3 days while he was there. His leg was splinted the complete length of his leg to prevent him from bending his knee so the wound and bone could heal. Once he was home, we continued with routine wound care and patching and he remained in cross ties, unable to lay down 27/7 from August 2019 until October 2019. During all that time, we patched him with Carnosine, Aeon, and X39 until the wound was fully healed in. This also meant he lost almost all his range of motion in his knee and his shoulder. Slowly we started hand walking him to get his strength built up. And eventually in February 2020 he went rehab for a month help regain range of motion and strength which helped a great deal. We still continued with X39 and various other patches to help ease his mind from the trauma of everything. Fast forward to April 2020, Shooter finally was started back up on relearning the barrels and how to get full function back. In May 2020 he was back within his average pole times. I’m confident the patches were a tremendous contribution to the healing process, mentally and physically.

***Note: The difference in color of his legs vary due to the hair condition and lighting. In the new pictures his legs are shaved making them darker. His hair gets lighter in the winter.

We had an appointment to put this guy down in November 2017. He had been with our family for 15 years and we had recently found out he was diabetic. By the time we caught it he was almost in a coma state one morning. We took him to the vet gave him some fluids and started him on insulin. He somewhat came out of it, had begun to eat, and then drastically started going downhill again. So, for about a week up till the appointment date he was being syringe fed food and water and not able to get up to use the litter box or anything. The night before we took him in, I decided to patch him because he was showing signs of pain and I wanted to give our friend a little comfort in his last hours. The next morning scooter was sitting up in his bed and that night he was actually playing with his string! His appetite started to come back literally overnight...eating on his own! So, I decided to cancel the appointment and see what happens. I kept patching him, Aeon on the head & Ice Wave on the kidneys. I patched him with a new set every other day for one week. Blood sugars kept within 95-150 range instead of 200-400+. I decided to give him a break just to see what would happen. 24hrs off the patches-he did not get out of his bed all day and did not eat much.  So, I patched him again that night. Within about an hour he had come out of his bed and literally was walking all around the house visiting people. And as you can see playing with his string again. At night we locked him in the bathroom with the kid gate up. About 3 AM the next morning I woke up when I heard him jump over the gate! He has not done that in 4 weeks! When I got up I found him up on the chair curled up on the blanket. While I know God is in control of everything, I'd also say there is something to these little patches!
